A Perfect 2-Day Fall Getaway at SookePoint

October 20, 2025

Real Guest Story | Katie & Jim, October 15 to 17, 2025

There’s something extra magical about Sooke in the fall. Crisp ocean air, fiery sunsets, cozy coastal vibes — it’s the perfect time for a quick getaway. We recently spent two incredible days at SookePoint Resort, and it was everything we hoped for (and more). Here’s a peek into our stay:

Day 1: Check-In & Sunset Bliss

We arrived in the late afternoon, just in time to catch golden hour spilling over the rugged coastline. As soon as we opened the door to our Cottage Suite, we were greeted by sweeping views of the Salish Sea and the rhythmic crash of waves below.

Within minutes of settling in, we poured a glass of wine, stepped out onto the balcony, and watched the sky light up in brilliant shades of orange and pink. Watching the sun dip behind the horizon from the comfort of our room was the perfect way to start our fall escape.

Day 2: Exploring, Relaxing & Savoring the Coast

Morning: Iron Mine Bay Hike

  • We woke up to the soft sound of waves and the smell of ocean air, brewed some coffee, and laced up our hiking boots. Just a short walk, the trail to Iron Mine Bay is the ideal morning adventure. The path winds through mossy rainforest, opening up to a quiet cove with rocky shores — the kind of place where you can just stand still and breathe it all in.
  • The fall colors were just beginning to show, and the light filtering through the trees made the entire hike feel like stepping into a postcard.

Midday: In-Room Massage

  • After our hike, we headed back to the resort for some pampering. Sooke West Coast Wellness came right to our room, transforming the space into a cozy little spa. The massage was heavenly — the sound of waves outside and the scent of essential oils inside made it easy to completely unwind.

Afternoon: Sheringham Point Lighthouse

  • Refreshed and recharged, we ventured out to explore Sheringham Point Lighthouse. This iconic landmark is a must-see, perched dramatically above the ocean. The trail is short and easy, and the reward is a breathtaking panoramic view of the coastline — especially striking on a crisp fall day.

Evening: Dinner at 17 Mile House Pub

  • We wrapped up the day with a cozy dinner at 17 Mile House Pub, a charming heritage pub with plenty of local character. A warm fire, hearty comfort food, and friendly service made it the perfect way to end our day of exploring.

Day 3: One Last Ocean View

We spent our final morning slowly — savouring a quiet breakfast in the fully-equipped kitchen, watching the water, and soaking in the last few moments of calm. Check-out was easy, and though we didn’t want to leave, we drove away feeling refreshed, reconnected, and already planning our return.

Why Fall is the Perfect Time to Visit

  • Peaceful atmosphere — Fewer crowds mean more space to breathe and relax.
  • Cozy vibes — Crisp air, warm interiors, and spectacular sunsets.
  • Nature at its best — Changing leaves, misty mornings, and breathtaking ocean views.

Ready to plan your own fall escape? Whether you’re looking for outdoor adventure, total relaxation, or a bit of both, SookePoint is the perfect coastal getaway.
